The Q4 Payroll Releases for both Sage HRMS and Sage Abra Suite contain the changes necessary to handle the new 2020 W-4. The form has been updated to reflect the changes to the tax code made in 2019. The form excludes withholding allowances which are no longer used.
The new 2020 W-4 form has been re-titled Employee’s Withholding Certificate.
All new employees hired in 2020 must complete the new form.
Current employees are not required to complete a new form but can choose to adjust their withholding based on the new form.
Sage HRMS and Sage Abra Suite use the filing status field to indicate whether an employee is still using the 2019 format or the new 2020 format.
